Wife of Trump ethics attorney arrested having sex with Virginia jail inmate in back seat of car
Teresa Jo Burchfield, the wife of a legal ethics adviser for President Trump, was arrested Tuesday in the back seat of a car where she was having sex with an inmate at the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center, the Fauquier Times reports.
The sheriff’s office charged Burchfield with willfully delivering unauthorized articles to a confined prisoner, a class 1 misdemeanor. She was released on a $5,000 secured bond.
“The defendant was caught in the backseat of her vehicle with an inmate,” the arresting deputy wrote in Burchfield’s criminal complaint. “When the inmate exited the vehicle, he handed me a bag of brown pills (capsules), that he claims to be workout pills.” Burchfield’s canoodler also possessed cigarettes, clothes, vitamin supplements and other “unauthorized articles alleged to have been obtained from the female.”
The inmate was on trustee status and “authorized to perform work inside and outside of the detention center and sheriff’s office facilities,” according to a statement from Sgt. James Hartman.
Burchfield is married to Bobby R. Burchfield, a partner at Washington’s King and Spaulding, who was appointed in January as an independent ethics adviser to the trust Trump set up to pretend his companies and investments aren’t conflicts of interest. He previously worked as general counsel to George H.W. Bush’s failed 1992 reelection campaign and as chairman for Karl Rove’s advocacy group for dark money in politics, Crossroads GPS.
Sounds like she upgraded.
