Recipient of taxpayer-funded healthcare calls single-payer bill ‘horrible’

While Bernie Sanders was rolling out his single-payer healthcare bill to great applause, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was busy trashing it.

“The president as well as the majority of the country know the single-payer system the Democrats are proposing is a horrible idea,” said Sanders, a government employee who enjoys comprehensive taxpayer subsidized healthcare. “I can’t think of anything worse than having government be more involved in your healthcare instead of less involved.”

Does the majority of the country know that a Medicare-for-all system is “a horrible idea”? According to a Pew Research Center poll published in June, 60 percent of Americans believe that the federal government should provide coverage for its citizens.

Plus, I can think of several things worse than having the government involved in my healthcare, like, say bankruptcy from medical bills or death.

Sanders was reminded of President Trump’s campaign promise to provide “insurance for everyone,” and responded by doubling down on her rhetoric. “I’m pretty sure that not only does the president not support [single-payer], America does not support it,” the press secretary said, “or Bernie Sanders would be sitting in the Oval Office right now.”

If Americans don’t want it, why are so many otherwise centrist Democratic senators bowing to pressure and sponsoring the single-payer bill?
