White House says ESPN should fire journalist for calling Trump a white supremacist

On Monday, “SportsCenter” host Jemele Hill accurately described discriminatory landlord and neo-Nazi apologist Donald Trump as a “bigot” and a “white supremacist” on Twitter. Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told pool reporters Wednesday that she believes the tweets warrant ESPN terminating Hill’s contract.

“I think that’s one of the more outrageous comments that anyone could make and certainly something that I think is a fireable offense by ESPN,” Sanders said.

Love it when the executive branch tries to direct how news organizations function.

Here are some of the factual tweets:

ESPN called Hill’s conduct “inappropriate” on Tuesday. The suits in charge should probably stick to sports.

UPDATE, 12:38 a.m.: Per CNN Money: In a statement, Hill expresses her regret for putting ESPN “in an unfair light,” even though Trump is a white supremacist. ESPN’s response: “We accept her apology.”
