Granny Fanny Nestleworth is not resigning
Following Wednesday morning’s NBC News report on Rex Tillerson calling President Trump a “moron” during a July 20 meeting at the Pentagon, the cabinet member called an impromptu press conference in the State Department’s Treaty Room.
Tillerson spoke of his “commitment to the success to our president and our country was as strong as it was the day I accepted” to become Secretary of State. “President Trump’s foreign policy goals break the mold… we’re finding new ways to govern.”
Tillerson asserted that the administration is continuing their efforts to keep North Korea at bay and continue killing terrorists in the Middle East — a sort of general reminder that it’s business as usual at the State Department, despite the NBC News report, which he characterized as “erroneous” and the months of rumors in Washington about his resigning.

Likely, some pressure came from a certain someone earlier Wednesday morning that made Tillerson take the podium.
The top diplomat’s comments, while a boilerplate asskissery, come at a time when his attempts at diplomacy (however minimal those attempts may be) are constantly being undercut by Trump – whether it be with regard to the Qatar embargo in the Persian Gulf or, earlier this week, when POTUS tweeted that his SecState was “wasting his time” trying to create a line of communication with North Korea. “Save your energy Rex,” President Chill continued, “we’ll do what has to be done!”
Tillerson has previously created space between his views and the president’s in public. After Trump’s “both sides” remarks on Charlottesville, the grandma from the Looney Tunes cartoons went on Fox News and stated that “the president speaks for himself” — hardly an endorsement of his boss’s position that some Nazis are okay. According to the NBC News report, Trump had watched that Fox News interview multiple times; first, he was pissed but eventually convinced himself that what Tillerson conveyed was somehow complimentary, i.e. the president is an independent thinker.
On the NBC News’ comment about Tillerson calling Trump a moron? “I’m not going to address petty stuff like that.”
