Reporter defends Ben Affleck’s ‘get them titties out/don’t make me look retarded’ interview

Earlier on Wednesday, after footage from 2001 of Ben Affleck groping 18-year-old actress Hilarie Burton on “TRL” disseminated across the web — and behavior for which Affleck did apologize in a subsequent tweet — another video of the Oscar winner surfaced: In 2004, while promoting “Jersey Girl, a 32-year-old Affleck was remarkably handsy with Canadian reporter Anne-Marie Losique. In addition to having a severe case of the gropies, Affleck suggested to the journalist that she “get them titties out” and refrain from making him “look retarded” by not going along with his flirty shtick. “That’s a lovely perfume you have on,” he continued. “You usually show a lot more cleavage than this, what’s the story?”

What a charmer. But, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Losique asserts that the actor “never touched me in any improper way” and “was very respectful.” Losique added that the video, embedded below, should not be included in the context of this week’s major news story about Hollywood moguls, i.e. Harvey Weinstein and others, using their industry power in order to sexually assault women. “I can’t say I am thrilled to have that interview mixed in with the other stories,” Losique said, “because I don’t think that is at all the same thing.”

“It has been blown out of proportion,” she added. “I know that people like fishing for anything, but this is completely out of context. I would like this to not have any negative impact on him. I find it sad.”

No word yet from Jennifer Lopez, who was dating Affleck at the time, on how she feels about the 2o04 interview.
