Eight dead in Manhattan after man drives Home Depot truck onto bike path
Eight people reportedly died Tuesday after a man drove a rented Home Depot pickup truck onto a bike path in lower Manhattan and rammed into cyclists. As many as 15 other people were reportedly injured in the incident. The motorist came to a stop near Stuyvesant High School after colliding with a school bus. The suspect reportedly exited the vehicle carrying “imitation firearms,” according to the New York Police Department. He was shot by law enforcement officers and taken into custody. Counter-terrorism officers were deployed to the scene. Law enforcement officials told CBS News and the Associated Press that the NYPD is investigating the incident as a terrorist attack.

One witness told the FBI that the suspect yelled “allah ackbar.”
