Better Than Television: Ja Rule and 50 Cent’s Twitter Fights
50 Cent and Ja Rule continue their long-lasting beef this week, though instead of guns and brawls they chose to duke it out via the relatively-harmless Twitter.
Earlier this week we told you about Ja Rule receiving a two-year sentence for a 2007 gun-possession charge. Since then, the Twitter-obsessed rap world’s been bursting with tweets concerning the obscured rapper’s conviction.
The bulk of those tweets come from Ja Rule’s longtime enemy 50 Cent. The two Queens rappers have feuded for years now in a beef that’s included shootings, stabbings, and plenty of diss songs—culminating with 50 pretty much ending Ja Rule’s commercial career.
Despite the nature of the feud, the two rappers manage to sound like 8th graders exchanging insults on the playground. After word of Ja Rule’s sentencing got out, the Twitter exchange between the two went something like this:
After the exchange had a lot more people watching Ja Rule’s Twitter, someone managed to hack their way in and, among other things, tweet some apologies at 50 and take shots at Ja’s own career. The now deleted posts read:
“@50cent, Listen man, I was thinking, I’m sorry I slapped you, I wanna apologize for everything”
“@50cent man why you had to go in on my career like that tho? You fucked my money up, I get it, you’re smarter, better rapper”
“Damn I’ve had more retweets in the last 15 minutes than I have albums sold in the last six years.”
“I been trying to get verified for a year and when I said Ja Rule n—a they said ‘Who?,’ I wish @50cent would just call me”
Naturally, Ja Rule’s first move was to blame 50 for the hacking. Though he later took that back:
Whatever case, these two provided me, and the Twitter world, with the best entertainment we’ve had all week.
