The Coathangers: Something to Hang Your Coat On

‘Cause who doesn’t love a band named after an age old abortion method?

The Coathangers: Something to Hang Your Coat On

It’s rare in today’s music for an all girl, punk-rock band to truly make an impact and engage listeners like “Bikini Kill” or “The Raincoats” once did. That’s why Atlanta based, all girl quintet, The Coathangers first single “Hurricane” off their new CD “Larceny & Lace” deserves a listen.

The Coathangers (self admittedly) were a band before any members were musicians, forming “as an excuse to hang out and play parties.” Gritty, catchy, well constructed punk-rock is expected to follow their critically acclaimed 2009 release “Scrabble.” As the band’s first experience in a “proper studio,” “Larceny & Old Lace” promises to be more mature while implying different styles creating something “familiar but still unique,” says drummer Rusty Coathanger.

Listen and download their single “Hurricane,” and be on the lookout for their CD “Larceny & Old Lace” dropping June 7th on “Suicide Squeeze Records.”
