These prostitutes still long for Ron Paul

The gals at Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Nevada are the best-known sex workers in America. They were, after all, the stars of an HBO reality series ‘Cathouse.’ Now they hope to use that fame to help Ron Paul win the White House — just like they did during the 2008 election.

“He knows what women’s wants and what women’s needs are,” one staff member, Ara Rose, told local Fox affiliate KRNV of Paul, a former gynecologist. “And when it comes to a man that’s going to be in the office, you want a man that knows his way around a woman.”

“If a client comes into the Bunny Ranch and says, ‘I’m pimpin for Paul,’ they’re going to have a real good time,” said the brothel’s owner, Dennis Hof. The girls all enthusiastically agree.

As part of their efforts, Hof and the women are asking their gentlemen clients to donate to Paul’s cause, all with a clever little catch phrase: “Pimpin’ for Ron Paul.”

According to Hof, politics runs deep at the ranch. “The bunnies are always talking about politics. They are into their country and they vote,” he said, leaving one of his employees to remark, “It goes hand-in-hand: politics always get involved anywhere, especially in the sex industry.”

Sure, the Moonlite Bunny Ranch may not the best little whore house in Nevada, but it is quite popular — 125 million monthly website hits — and though quirky, this story cuts straight to the core of Paul’s states’ rights philosophy.

In Paul’s view people should have the liberty to sell or buy sex as they see fit, so long as it’s legal in their state. If a person decides on their own to get into the world’s oldest profession, so be it. (I think we can all agree that sex-trafficking or otherwise forcing someone into this commercial industry is obviously immoral.)

Gynecological jokes aside, it’s really Paul’s libertarian politics that cinched the deal for Hof and his gals. “Community government,” he said. “That’s why the bunny ranch exists. Who knows better of how to govern a community than the community?” Who indeed?

As the women get more attention for their Paul support, though, I warn them not to bring their dogs into it. They all oppose President Obama’s recent decision to lift a ban on eating horse meat and, as bunny Cami Parker told KRNV, “[My dog] Gucci is also supporting Ron Paul because he feels like if Obama will let us eat the horses, he could be next.” Then she giggled.

There’s a fine line between serious political dialogue about sex and states’ rights and just plain silliness, ladies. People will already poo-poo you for being prostitutes, so why give them more material? Don’t you know that less is more?

I can do what I want with my private, personal sex life and I absolutely RESENT you bigoted jackasses who try to control us. I love Dennis Hof and Ron Paul. I want my civil liberties and you can expect me to be very, very, very pissed at morons who trample on my civil liberties and masquerade themselves as advocates of ethics.
