Clark has just dropped “Com Touch,’ a single from his forthcoming “Iradelphic” is a piece of sun-dappled, psychedelic electronic music. Analog synthesizers bounce around in warm patterns, calling to mind early electronic music visionaries Cluster, Conrad Schnitzler and Harmonia, as well as Cluster’s collaborations with Brian Eno in the ’70s.
The song is a shot of euphoria for 2012 and a hint that “Iradelphic,” due out April 2nd on Warp Records, should be something special.
Recorded in Australia, Berlin, Wales, Brussels, Cornwall, Norway and London using everything from vintage analogue synths, harpsichords and orchestral drums to cutting edge digital, crumbling cassettes and dictaphones, “Iradelphic” (which follows 2009′s “Totems Flare”) has been described by the musician himself as “looming, ambiguous, radiant… glowing, whole, invincible, complete.”
Clark muses, “It feels like it’s been a massive test, a huge, all engulfing self imposed boundary that I had to step over, can I transform all this wild instrumentation and confounding, chaotic will into something with a monolithic unity, can I bring all of these seemingly contradictory shifts in mood into a homogenous whole? I hope I’ve nailed it.”
So far, I’m apt to agree.
“Iradelphic” can be pre-ordered over at Bleep, while “Com Touch” can be streamed along with a free downloaded (provided one submits an email address).
