Listen: Battles remixed by The Field and Gui Boratto

Battles is readying the release of “Dross Glop 1,” the first in a 4-part Battles 12-inch remix series, due out on 12-inch vinyl, Feb 7th here in the States. The Field remixes “Sweetie & Shag,” while Gui Boratto remixes “Wall Street.”

The Field and Gui Boratto are two electronic producers who specialize in fusing minimal techno with shoegaze and trance. However, The Field inverts his formula of ethereal and hypnotic electronic haze to deliver something darker with “Sweetie & Shag.” His trademark clipped and looped sampling is still present, but in mood it almost recalls the dark shades of Leftfield. Gui Boratto’s take on “Wall Street” almost sounds like Daft Punk remixing an Ennio Morricone Spaghetti Western—a very interesting pivot from Battles’ original.
