5 videos of Whitney Houston at her best

The world lost an icon in superstar Whitney Houston last night. Reports started flooding in at about 8:15pm: the singer was found dead at the Beverly Hilton hotel yesterday afternoon. Houston was only 48-years old.

A precise cause of death remains unknown, but TMZ suggests Houston may have drowned in the bathtub. Prescription drugs were found around her suite, which, sadly, doesn’t come as much surprise.

The songstress and movie star, who during the 80s and 90s was the number one musical force in the world, saw her career suffer after getting hooked on various controlled substances. Houston says she cleaned herself up last year, but she’s been seen partying around Los Angeles in recent days, although looked relatively healthy. Houston was presumably in town for tonight’s Grammy Awards, which will be marred by her sudden and upsetting passing.

Here, in the inimitable great’s honor, are five videos of Houston at her best.

“I Have Nothing”

“How Will I Know”

“I Wanna Dance with Somebody”

“One Moment in Time”

“My Love is Your Love”
