Yesterday, Rebekah Speight of Dakota City, Nebraska sold a three-year-old McDonald’s chicken McNugget on eBay. The McNugget, preserved in Speight’s freezer for the last three years, supposedly bears and uncanny resemblance to the profile of America’s first president, George Washington. The stately bust went for $8,100.

First, what an eye! According to Daily Mail, Speight purchased the nugget when she took her kids to 99 cent McNugget Tuesday three years ago. While cleaning up after her rugrats, she caught sight of the nugget, which she thought looked just like the head-side of a quarter—prominent nose, powdered colonial hair-do and all.

Second, what an investment! There are six McNuggets in each 99-cent box. After just three years of freezing, Speight turned a 17-cent square of chicken and batter into $8,100. G.W. himself would have to be proud.

Furthermore, Speight sold the nugget to raise $15,000 to send 50 children from her local church to summer camp. “By bidding on this rare President George Washington Chicken McNugget…not only will you have an opportunity to be the new owner of this rare find, but you will be investing in the lives of children,” she wrote on the Ebay page.

$8,100 is a lot of money. Not only can it send a bunch of kids to camp, it can purchase a full semester of education at a state college, buy a 2007 Ford Focus, and in some parts of the country serve as the downpayment on a two-bedroom house.

That said, it’s nothing compared to what you can get for a toasted cheese sandwich bearing the Virgin Mary’s face.
