Best Coast are using live performances to debut tracks from the upcoming record, “The Only Place.” Last week they premiered “When I Cry” in Denton, TX, and now they’ve used their SXSW appearance to play another one, “Mean Girls.”

While “When I Cry” felt a little more upbeat, “Mean Girls” has the same laid-back vibe of the band’s debut record. Bethany Cosentino said that the new album would show some more maturity, but it sounds like the band has achieved that without losing their signature sound. We’ll have to wait for the full album to know for sure.
