Spiritualized just dropped the music video for “Hey Jane,” the lead single off of the forthcoming album, “Sweet Heart Sweet Light.”

The music video was directed by AJ Rojas, who has previously shot for Jamie XX & Gil Scott Heron, Earl Sweatshirt & Emeli Sandé. It features a protagonist, Frida, (played by Tyra Sanchez) who moves “amidst a shady, seedy backdrop in which she’s desperately trying to uphold normality for her son.”

The song has a classic, 13th Floor Elevators vibe (known to be a J Spaceman favorite), before it catapults into a swirl of beautiful noise as it approaches what feels like the song’s final moments. After a brief respite of silence, Spiritualized twists the knob up to deliver some magnificently-orchestrated neo-Krautrock melodies as Frida, who is a transexual stripper, returns from a night out to violence at home.
