Australian sculptor finds a new use for old CDs

Chances are you finished ripping your CD collection into iTunes a decade ago. By now you’re probably on Spotify and you’re thinking of getting rid of those clunky MP3s taking up space on your hard drive. But what to do with those stacks of old CDs, collecting dust and refusing to be thrown away?

Australian sculptor Sean Avery has an answer: he’s repurposing them to make some seriously impressive art. “My sculptures are all constructed with recycled materials — old CDs, computer hard drives etc, so I classify my work as ‘sustainable art,’” he says.
