Disabled Border Collie gets wheels, goes hiking

This is ridiculously great: three years ago, a Border Collie rescue shelter found a home for this adorable pup Roosevelt, who happens to have two deformed front legs. Knowing that Border Collies are bred to be herders, Roosevelt’s new owner Stephanie Fox fixed her a wheelchair that lets her run everywhere, even up hiking trails. Bangor Daily News reported:

“The only difference between Roosevelt and other dogs is that instead of a collar I snap on his wheels to take him out,” she said.

“People think he should have been put down because they think he’s suffering,” she said. “But he wakes up happy every day. If you had a child with a disability you’d try to enrich them, give them opportunities. So why not do the same with a dog?”

He’s probably also capable of a few extra-special tricks like wheelies and donuts. Well done, Fox.

I knew a dog like this in Brazil, but he didn't even have two back legs – just two back wheels, and was very happy, always came running to greet every visitor!
