Obama already playing the Bin Laden trump card in new campaign video
Well, that was fast.
Yesterday the Obama camp announced an official start date of May 5 for the 2012 campaign, when he’ll hold his first two events in Ohio and Virginia. But today team Obama released a new campaign video in which they’re already playing their trump card: reminding America that Obama killed Osama bin Laden.
They’re also suggesting that Mitt Romney, had he been president, wouldn’t have got him. And they got a pretty damning quote of Romney saying about bin Laden, “it’s not worth moving heaven and earth spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person.”
We all knew the Bin Laden card was going to get played—it’s clearly one of the best cards the president’s holding. In the two months leading up to the election, we all expect President Obama to ask, “Would you want bin Laden still alive? Because that’s what a Romney presidency would have brought you.”
But already? Obama looks to be in danger of playing his hand too early, here. The campaign hasn’t even officially started yet. With over six months until the election, people are bound to get tired of the Bin Laden line at some point.
Maybe that’s why Obama has Bill Clinton saying it for him, so it seems more like an endorsement than a trump card being thrown. Still, we think this might be jumping the gun (excuse the metaphor).
