With the Republican primaries over and the general election already so boring we’re arguing over whether Obama ate dog meat as a child even though he wrote about it explicitly in 2004, Bad Lip Reading turns their attention elsewhere…to Gotye, naturally.
The Bad Lip Reading of “Somebody That I Used To Know” has an incredibly promising title, “Kicked Your Monkey,” but it’s honestly not quite as satisfying as the political editions, mostly because like Gotye’s version of the song the lyrics are pretty hard to understand. Bad Lip Reading relies heavily on the subtitles here, and it’s hard to look both at the subtitles and someone’s mouth at the same time.
But, like the song, the big payoff comes at the chorus. It’s pretty incredible how much “Now you’re just somebody that I used to know” looks like “I kicked your monkey then I used your goat.” It’s well worth a watch.
