Facebook backlash begins

And lo, there was a site that many did flock to in the heady days of the early 2000′s, a site with faces arranged somewhat in book form, and lo, one could poke another and gander at their pictures held aloft by the Internet that sailed through the skies, some might say, wirelessly.

And lo, there was a young man who created it, Mark Zuckerberg, who hast a movie made about him directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin. And it was good. And Mark made billions in one day with his IPO and then he doth lost a lot of it in the next week. And lo, then, after his IPO, the backlash to Facebook began.

The hashtag “#IhateFacebookbecause” was trending across America this morning – a hashtag that lists hundreds of reasons users don’t like Facebook anymore, with hundreds more adding their list of grievances every minute. It’s a refreshing reminder that Facebook is just a website and that the people who use it are the thing that matters — not neccesarily the site itself. The site, after all, is nothing without its users creativity.

Here’s some of the best Tweets about Facebook hate.

I didn't have to pay attention to timeline until facebook forced it on me a few weeks ago. I hate timeline and found that may others feel the same, though that seems to make no difference to facebook. What they are saying is like it or lump it. Having stumbled across a year old article by Christina Warren on Mashable, I find that there is at least one slave to face book who totally agrees. Thanks for solidifying my choice to leave facebook, Christina Warren. With out your condescending, flawed logic filled, ode to subservience, I might well still be on the fence. Tomorrow on September 12 , 2012 I will close my facebook account. In this instance of like it or lump it, I choose DELICIOUS lumps. Facebook's hubris will bite them on the ass.

Shinako agrees with the Warren article. Contending that FB users who have legitimate complaints are just whiny bitches. Well Shinako, some of us in the adult world know that there is always choice to had, even if the choices are difficult. But this isn't a DIFFICULT choice. It's what YOU might call "um, like..ah super duper easy." I am dissatisfied with FB and so I will close my account never to return. You suppose that people will log off and return like a whipped dog because you cannot wrest yourself from Facebooks social teat. That's your problem not mine.

From this day forward I proclaim SEPTEMBER 12 to be QUIT FACEBOOK DAY so that we may be reminded that there is still FREEDOM OF CHOICE (DEVO) and it is not as hard to exercise this freedom as some sheep would have you believe.

      Hey Joanna,
Please read my reply to Shinako. I think it applies to your tiny brain as well.
