Listen to Minotaur Shock’s brilliant track ‘Janet’

The UK-based Minotaur Shock, the project of David Edwards, just released a new album called “Orchard.” It’s a brilliant record, and while I pen a review, check out the opening track “Janet.” If you don’t dig it instantly, then I pity thee. It’s hypnotic, playful, psychedelic and full of a rich atmosphere of sound. There’s not a little bit of the motorik beat propelling the song, too. Genius work all around. It’s Edwards’ favorite track on the album and it shows.

To get an idea of what Edwards was up to sonically, check out what he had to say himself:

“I was listening to a fair bit of British stuff and became fascinated by that particular eccentricity that runs through a lot of folk, library, prog and dance music. Things like Mike Oldfield, Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci, The Orb, Art of Noise, Kevin Ayers, Virginia Astley, Andrew Poppy, Richard Skelton, Autechre.”

Nice and eclectic. Definitely do yourselves a favor and check out Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci and The Orb. You will not be disappointed.

Stream “Janet” below.
