Every once in awhile a remix come along that surpasses the original material. Recently it was Janson & Prins Thomas’s remix of Wall’s “Gaberdine.” Now Kolombo has come along and remixed Tycho’s “A Walk” and it’s pure gorgeousness. Total sublimity.

Tycho’s sense of melody, and the tonal quality of his synths and production, benefits from the forward propulsion of a dance beat. Several years ago I caught Tycho live in Los Angeles and he played some uptempo dance track and it was a total revelation of his aesthetic. I’ve never found out what he played that night, but it’s always left me wanting more uptempo Tycho.
