Tamaryn’s ‘Heavenly Bodies’ video is a multi-colored daydream

Tamaryn have been around for a few years now, hammering away at their neo-shoegaze hymns. The band has floated almost anonymously beneath the surface, for better or worse, where sonic contemporaries such as Beach House have elbowed their way into the mainstream. It’s possible that Tamaryn’s sound is too close to the original shoegaze aesthetic, whereas Beach House has creatively explored a more diverse set of sounds. Whatever the case may be, Tamaryn know their way around a melody, but they sure could push the hushed female vocals up in the mix (and this is coming from me, who has been listening to such bands for half my life).

The band even digs up the old shoegaze music video aesthetic for “Heavenly Bodies.” It’s pretty in its own way but dated—like something you might find on an old MTV2 rotation. Does it work for the band, though? Certainly.

Watch the video below and check out Tamaryn’s score to an artsy video starring Lindsay Lohan.
