This is Victoria “Vicki” Soto, 27. She was a first grade teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut. On Friday the 14th, when she heard the first gunshots of the rampage coming from nearby, she managed to hide all of her first grade students in cabinets and closets in the classroom. When the gunman came to her classroom, she told him that her children were at the school gym, after which he killed her.
Many more children could have died during the Sandy Hook massacre. Thanks to Victoria Soto, a lot more children got to see another day.

It's impossible to measure the amount of pride I feel to share this country with people with this level of moral character. Whatever the reason this troubled kid had in doing this unredeemable act, it can never be justified. I see it as prue evil.

Bless her heart, that is the most courageous thing. These children were truly blessed to have her as a teacher. May her soul rest in peace and may everyone remember how amazingly brave she was. God bless all those affected by this awful tragedy.

I'm not clear how Ned Hepburn knows what Victoria told Adam when he came into the classroom, since they are both dead and nobody was there to hear? Anyhow, she was very brave to stay behind and not hide with the children, maybe to deter him from looking for the kids. A senseless death and so tragic.

I believe the children in the cabinets would have known what was said. Don't use such a tragic situation to make yourself feel intelligent for you will not be seen as anything but ignorant. How about if you leave it with God bless her soul and the souls of those who witnessed her death.

ask the parents of anyone of those children that survived if Victoria's sacrifice was "senseless" as you so stupidly call it. Ask Victoria's parents whom saw their child graduate from College as a Dean's List student if her sacrifice was "senseless". Victoria died perhaps in the most honorable way any human being can die: giving her life for her fellow human being. Something that people like you and I most probably would never have the courage to do. Please abstain from making such foolish comments. Don't stain the memory of a selfless and beautiful human being….maybe you should think about going to college or doing something prductive with your own life.

Dude your snipes is a crock of shit. She DID try to usher her students into a cabinet, however the gunman caught her and shot her dead. Several other teachers did the same, one a storage room, another, a bathroom. The other teachers had more time to hide their students and were successful at saving themselves and their students. I just read ACTUAL words from the teachers and hey smartass, her STUDENTS were EYEWITNESSES because they SURVIVED.

Because of her quality as a human being she did not need a weapon. Those things are for cowards that don't know how to use words. You guys are missing the whole point here. The shooter's mother enabled him through her fear. Because of her fear she had all those weapons at home…she was armed, look how it backfired on her, how many lives did her fear save?…not even her's or her son's. Victoria was a real hero. Real heroes don't need guns only cowards do.
