Johnny Depp has said that Keith Richards was his inspiration for Captain Jack Sparrow of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. Now the whole thing is coming full circle as Richards appears on a duet with Tom Waits (who sounds like a pirate) for the new compilation record “Son of Rogue’s Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys,” which Depp created along with “Pirates of the Caribbean” director Gore Verbinski.
Other duets on the record include Patti Smith with Johnny Depp and Courtney Love with Michael Stipe.
Listen to Tom Waits and Keith Richards do their best pirate impression below on “Shenandoah.” As you might guess, it’s pretty damn convincing.
