John Denver is one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time—an American country staple. His songs have inspired many of the greats today which is why artists of our generation have come together to recreate some of his best songs. “The Music Is You: A Tribute To John Denver” is an album chock full of amazing covers.

Today we bring you My Morning Jacket’s “Leaving On A Jet Plane.” The song was an important one for Denver as he was an avid flyer, which unfortunately led to his demise. Jim James has the perfect voice for it. James’ vocals combined with his acoustic guitar put a nice touch on this quintessential John Denver song.

“The Music Is You: A Tribute To John Denver” comes out 15 years after the musician’s death on April 2nd via ATO. The album also features J Mascis, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Dave Matthews Band, Sharon Van Etten and more.
