Minnesota fishing town appoints four-year-old mayor

May 13, 2013

Mayor Robert Tufts prefers to go by the name “Bobbie.” Each year, his Minnesota fishing town of Dorset, population 22, literally pulls a name out of a hat to decide who runs the town. For 2013, it’s a four-year-old carrying a big stick who doesn’t walk so softly. In an interview with a local CBS affiliate, Tufts told reporters that a fish bobber “tastes like fish poop.” An erudite observation, to be sure.

Tufts gives up his post in August, when the town randomly selects another name for mayor.
