The Flaming Lips covered David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ on ‘Fallon’ and it was glorious
Seth Meyers may indeed “kill it” on late night as Andy Samberg says, but one thing is for sure—he’s got a tough act to follow after Jimmy Fallon in terms of the musical component. Scoring The Roots as his house band was an inspired move that resulted in some great guest collaborations, and the musical picks overall for “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” have been spot-on: Vampire Weekend, Phoenix, and The Flaming Lips all played just this week.
The Flaming Lips showed up Wednesday and covered David Bowie’s “Heroes” in a slowed-down version that’s a little reminiscent of the slow, grinding “Wave of Mutilation” the Pixies released for the “Pump Up the Volume” soundtrack.
