Maxine Waters is delighted that Bill O’Reilly got fired

Maxine Waters is having a pretty good week considering she got to witness unusually swift retribution for the man who made a racist remark about her hair. On Wednesday night, Waters discussed serial sexual harasser Bill O’Reilly’s termination from Fox News with CNN’s Anderson Cooper and she could not have been more delighted. Well, she could have been happier if O’Reilly was actually facing criminal charges after the $13 million in sexual harassment hush money was exposed by the New York Times earlier this month. Nevertheless, she’s able to recognize a victory when she sees one.

“It was a sexual harassment enterprise there at Fox,” Waters said. “The men there and Roger Ailes, this was a way of life for them.”

The California congresswoman is referring to the apparent toxic culture of misogyny at the conservative news outlet as evidence by the small army of Fox employees who had accused former chairman Ol’ Hamburger Balls Ailes of sexually harassing them.

“Unfortunately, he was a man who made tremendous sums of money, had a huge show, and really, there’s something wrong with him psychologically,” Waters said of O’Reilly. “I hope he seeks some help. And I hope that the women who have come forward feel good about the justice they are receiving.”

Despite O’Reilly finally getting ousted after years of sexually harassing colleagues, Waters admits that there’s still work to be done.

“The day will come when rich men won’t be able to buy their way out of this criminal activity,” said Waters, “and they will go to jail, and they should go to jail.”

Enjoy that last laugh, congresswoman. You earned it.
